Chersonissos: Guide
Chersonissos (Límin Chersonísou, Limenas Hersonissou) ist ein ehemaliger Fischerort an der Nordküste Kretas. Der Ort liegt ungefähr 26 Kilometer östlich von Heraklion und ungefähr 43 westlich von Agios Nikolaos.
Chersonissos ist ausschließlich durch den Tourismus geprägt. Im Ortskern gibt es zahlreiche Geschäfte, Bars, Restaurants und Diskotheken. Wegen des Nachtlebens an der Uferpromenade ist der Ort vor allem bei jüngeren Menschen beliebt. Er wird auch als "Ballermann 6|Ballermann Kretas" bezeichnet.
Neben dem Tourismus ist die Landwirtschaft ein weiterer wichtiger Wirtschaftszweig.
Nördlich des heutigen Ortes liegt die antike Ruinenstätte Chersonaos (Chersonasos).
