Francavilla al Mare: Guide

Francavilla al Mare ist eine Stadt in der Region Abruzzen, Provinz Chieti in Italien. Sie liegt südlich von Pescara (Abruzzen)|Pescara an der Adriatisches Meer|Adria. Allerdings gehen Pescara und Francavilla fließend ineinander über. Francavilla hat 23.609 Einwohner (Stand am 30. Juni 2005) auf einer Fläche von 22 km². Der Schutzheilige der Stadt ist San Franco.

Die Stadt ist Mitglied der Cittaslow, einer 1999 in Italien gegründeten Bewegung zur Entschleunigung und Erhöhung der Lebensqualität in Städten.

Sport

Am 20. Mai 2001 endete die 1. Etappe des Giro d'Italia in Francavilla. Sie wurde von Ellis Rastelli gewonnen.
