Pozzallo: Guide


Pozzallo ist eine Stadt in der Provinz Ragusa in der Region Sizilien in Italien.

Lage und Daten

Pozzallo liegt 30 km südöstlich von Ragusa direkt an der Küste des Mittelmeers. Es ist die einzige Gemeinde in der Provinz Ragusa, die am Meer liegt. Hier leben 18.450 Einwohner (Stand am 30. September 2005) auf einer Fläche von 14,94 km². Die Einwohner leben von der Landwirtschaft (Johannisbrot) und der Fischerei.

Die Nachbargemeinden sind Ispica und Modica.

Geschichte

Der Ort entwickelte sich um den Turm herum. 1829 wurde die Gemeinde selbstständig.

Turm aus dem 14. Jahrhundert mit schönen Gewölben
Masso Palast erbaut 1926 im Jugendstil
Hafen, ein schöner Fischereihafen, zum Beladen von Erdöl wurde eine Verladeinsel vor dem Hafen angelegt
Badestrände, das Wasser ist sauber, hier gibt es einige schöne Badestrände außerhalb der Stadt.

Verkehr

Der Bahnhof von Pozzallo an der Bahnstrecke Gela - Ragusa - Syrakus ist der südlichste Bahnhof mit Personenverkehr in Europa. Die Fahrzeit nach Ragusa beträgt etwa 1 Stunde, nach Syrakus etwa 1 Stunde und 10 Minuten.

Von Pozzallo fahren Schnellboote nach Malta.
