Rieti: Guide



Rieti ist die Hauptstadt der Provinz Rieti in der Italien|italienischen Region Latium. Die Stadt liegt ca. 80 Kilometer nordöstlich von Rom und hat 47.008 Einwohner (Stand am 30. Juni 2005).

Seit 500 n. Chr. ist Rieti Sitz eines Bischofs. Rieti geht auf das antike Reate, den Hauptort der Sabiner zurück. Wirtschaftlich von Bedeutung ist die Chemiefaser- und Zuckerindustrie. Sehenswert ist der Romanik|romanische Dom von 1225, der bis ins Jahr 1283 zurückreichende Bischofspalast und die Stadtbefestigung aus dem 13. Jahrhundert
